Interview Tips & Strategy

Proven strategies that work across industries, roles, and company types. Whether you're a fresher or a 15-year professional, these fundamentals separate candidates who get offers from those who don't.

6 Strategies Every Candidate Should Know

Research before every interview

Study the company's products, recent news, culture and the exact job description. Interviewers can tell within 2 minutes whether you've done your homework. Spend at least 30 minutes on LinkedIn, Glassdoor and the company website the day before.

Prepare your top 5 stories (STAR method)

Behavioral interviews ('Tell me about a time when…') account for 50–70% of most rounds. Have 5 ready-to-use stories from your experience that cover leadership, conflict, failure, teamwork, and impact. Each story should be Situation → Task → Action → Result.

Practice speaking out loud, not just in your head

Knowing the answer and being able to articulate it clearly are different skills. Record yourself answering 10 common questions. You'll hear filler words, unclear structure and pacing issues you never noticed before. Fix them before the real interview.

Prepare smart questions to ask the interviewer

Always have 3 thoughtful questions ready. 'What does success look like for this role in the first 90 days?' or 'What are the biggest technical challenges the team is facing?' signals genuine interest and seniority.

Your first 60 seconds set the tone

The 'Tell me about yourself' answer is your opening statement. Make it 90 seconds: who you are, what you've done most recently, what makes you strong for this role, and why you're excited. Never read it — memorise the shape, not the words.

Handle salary questions with data, not emotion

Research your market rate on LinkedIn Salary, Glassdoor and Naukri before the interview. Give a range anchored above your target: 'Based on my research and my 6 years in [domain], I'm looking at ₹18–22 LPA — what's the budget for this role?'
